SERVICE OVERVIEW

What is Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) Code?

The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a unique 20-character alphanumeric code based on the ISO 17442 standard, used to identify legal entities participating in financial transactions globally. In India, LEI codes are required for entities undertaking large-value RTGS/NEFT transactions, participants in over-the-counter derivatives markets and large corporate borrowers meeting prescribed RBI thresholds. The code is issued by an accredited Local Operating Unit (LOU) and must be renewed annually to remain active and valid.
